Back

Symptoms & Conditions

Back pain and related symptoms often arise from structural or neurological issues affecting muscles, discs, or nerves. Discover the prevalent causes and their impact here.

Back Pain

Back pain is discomfort or ache in the muscles, nerves, or bones of the back, often caused by injury, poor posture, or underlying medical conditions.

Neck pain involves stiffness or soreness in the neck area, often resulting from muscle strain, injury, or spinal issues.

Sciatica is pain that radiates along the sciatic nerve, typically causing sharp or burning pain from the lower back down one leg.

Spinal stenosis is the narrowing of spaces in the spine, which can put pressure on the spinal cord and nerves, causing pain, numbness, or weakness.

Shooting low back pain is sudden, sharp pain that travels from the lower back down the legs, often caused by nerve irritation or injury.

Degenerative disc disease is the gradual wear and tear of spinal discs, leading to pain, stiffness, and reduced mobility.

A herniated disc occurs when the soft inner material of a spinal disc pushes through the outer layer, irritating nearby nerves and causing pain.

Compression fractures are small breaks in the vertebrae, often due to osteoporosis or trauma, causing back pain and reduced height.

Spondylolisthesis is a condition where a vertebra slips out of place onto the bone below, leading to pain and nerve compression.

Pain after spine surgery can result from healing tissues, scar formation, or complications, requiring careful management.

Post-shingles nerve pain, also known as postherpetic neuralgia, is persistent nerve pain that continues after a shingles rash has healed. It is caused by nerve damage from the shingles virus and can result in burning, stabbing, or aching sensations.

Vertebrogenic pain originates from the vertebrae or surrounding spinal structures, causing localized or radiating discomfort.

Facet joint dysfunction involves irritation or degeneration of the small joints between vertebrae, leading to localized back pain and stiffness.

Kyphoplasty is a minimally invasive procedure to treat spinal compression fractures by stabilizing the vertebra and reducing pain.

Sacroiliac joint pain originates from the sacroiliac joints, located between the lower spine and pelvis, causing lower back and buttock discomfort, often worsened by movement.

Hip and pelvis pain can result from joint problems, muscle strain, or nerve issues. It may affect mobility and radiate to the lower back, thighs, or groin.

Fibromyalgia is a chronic disorder characterized by widespread musculoskeletal pain, fatigue, and tenderness in localized areas, often accompanied by sleep and mood disturbances.
